Looking for a different prayer discipline for the summer? Try the Psalms. Recently I read a small book, Psalms, by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. The Psalms were a central part of Bonhoeffer’s prayer life. He describes them as a “Priceless Treasure” for the Church and believed they should be included in every worship service. Bonhoeffer recommended each Christian pray the Psalms daily, once every morning and once every evening. In the ancient church it was not unusual to memorize the Psalms. David prayed the Psalms. Christ prayed the psalms. We pray the psalms. In praying the Psalms we participate in the prayer life of Christ and His community and are drawn closer to God.

Calendar of Events

May 10^th – Happy Mother’s Day!
May 15^th - The Annual Olivedale Health Fair will be held from 11 am to 1 pm. Free lunch and t-shirt will be given to the first 200 senior attendees. The health fair will include free blood pressuring screening, blood oxygen and glucose checks, and resources on various health, safety, etc. issues for seniors.
May 17^th – ZETA ALPHA will meet at 9:30 am in the church basement. Lesson 8 will be discussed in the Bible study Finding Resilience, Joy, and Our Identity in Jesus Christ. All women are welcome to attend.
May 24^th - Session will meet at 9:30 am.

YOUTH CONFIRMATION CLASS: The pastor will lead a Confirmation class for youth eleven years of age and older. The classes are two hours each and will be held on Sundays following worship ( 12 noon to 2 pm). Lunch will be served. The dates remaining are May 24 and June 7. If you missed the first class in April, you are still welcome to come.
